Your headline shocked me

• I WOULD not normally write but was so shocked and distressed by your headline “Stab teen excluded by school” (August 15) I feel I must express how wrong I think this is.

This poor 16-year-old, who according to your report was talented and well-liked, and was, according to the free paper on the tube, in the wrong place at the wrong time, has been stabbed to death in the most terrifying and barbaric way, and you have insulted his memory and no doubt caused his family and friends untold distress, by spotlighting his exclusion, rather than the tragedy of another life curtailed, or the criminality and depravity of his killing.

Please consider the memory of the dead and the bereaved, as well as fair-minded readers and those who will be encouraged by your front page to blame the poor victim, when composing your headlines.
