YOUNGSTERS from Lyndhurst Football Club have set their sights on a new goal next season after vowing to “raise even more money” for the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, writes Steve Barnett.
Players and coaches from the club visited the hospital, which is located just off Russell Square, on Monday to hand over a giant cheque for £1,090.
They raised the cash by organising a charity run around Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium, with boys from the Under-9s team completing five laps and the Under-11s and Under-14s players running eight laps.
The event proved such a huge success that manager Bobby Leonard wasted little time revealing: “We are going to make raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital for children an annual event, and all the boys are determined to raise even more money next year.
“It might not be another charity run, but we’ll certainly be doing something.”
