TWO of the top young fencers in the country gained valuable experience on the international circuit when they represented Great Britain at the World Championships.
Soji Aiyenuro (pictured), who lives in Belsize Park, and Curtis Miller, who lives in Holloway, can often been seen dominating the national scene on behalf of Camden Fencing Club.
Despite missing out on the medals, the two are now proving that they’re ready to duel on the international stage after putting in a series of eye-catching performances in Hungary.
As the youngest member of Team GB, Soji, 19, finished a very creditable 64th out of 132 competitors in the individual sabre event.
The result builds on his 42nd place finish at the European Championships earlier this year.
And after this, his first ever international sabre competition, team-mate Curtis, 21, will be eager to build upon the experience after finishing 105th in the individual ranks.
Overall the young and inexperienced four-man GB team did well to finish 14th out of 30 countries.
Meanwhile former Olympian Richard Kruse, who teaches foil at Camden Fencing Club, finished 34th out of 125 competitors in his individual foil category.
