Yes, Camden seems to have gone crazy with ‘regulations’ for our flats
Thursday, 28th March 2019
• I AGREE with your letter writer about Camden Council has spread out of all control to my housing association, Clarion Housing, (They seem to have gone crazy about regulations in my council flat, March 21).
I live in a similar house that has two flats – each occupied a single man. Clarion Housing took over from the self-shamed Circle 33 Housing.
Your correspondent is so right. Over the past 18 months I have had letters from their contractors and sub-sub-sub-contractors about a shared hallway smaller than a single bed.
Their men turn up without appointments or prior notice and kick seven bells out of the shared hallway. They clearly are milking the housing association for work that either does not need doing or duplicating.
They will bang on doors like violent thugs, having turned up on spec, for work that does not need doing or has been carried out already.
As for changes to communal lighting, they put in bulbs that could blind a bat. They stay on all day by motion.
My neighbour had his flat front door replaced nine months ago. This week it was replaced yet again. Something funny is going on. It looks like contractors and/or their sub-sub-subs have been sacked.
There’s no clue about what work has been carried out and what has not. So there are more letters that make no sense and contractors who turn up when they like and do what they like.
You then get snotty letters threatening forced entry. Late last year I did a 200-mile round trip to give access. No one showed up.
These cannot be isolated situations for Camden tenants or housing association residents. This has nothing to do with fire safety but administrative convenience. Speak up.
