STRIKER Rachel Yankey was beaming with pride on Sunday when she matched Peter Shilton’s record of 125 international caps.

The former Hampstead schoolgirl played her part as England beat Canada 1-0 at the New York Stadium, Rotherham, thanks to an injury-time header from Arsenal team-mate Ellen White.

Far from dwelling on her achievement Yankey quickly set her sights on the Gunners’ Champions League semi-final tie against German side VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday.

“We don’t want to concede,” she said. “We always feel confident that we will score goals and we have to go out there and take it to them. They’re a tough side and deserve to be there and it will be difficult but we’ll give it all we’ve got.”

Shelley Kerr’s side will go into the first-leg tie at Meadow Park brimming with confidence following Tuesday’s 6-0 victory over Birmingham City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Gemma Davison and Ellen White bagged two goals each, while Jordan Nobbs and Kim Littler were also on target at Woodside Park.
