St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club’s Christian Thomas celebrates his success in the MTK Global Lonsdale Box Cup with CJ Hussein, the club’s head coach

TOP St Pancras ABC prospect Christian Thomas proved a big hit over the weekend at the MTK Global Lonsdale Box Cup.

Returning to the ring for the first time in more than three-and-a-half years, the 21-year-old looked “hungry for success” as he won “two very tough bouts” in Cumbria.

There was little sign of ring rust as Thomas out-pointed Ellis MacAuley from Title Shot ABC over three two-minute rounds in his semi-final at the Penrith Leisure Centre on Saturday. Competing in the senior 71kg weight category, he showed his mettle once again on Sunday when he out-scored Josiah Sherwood from Northside ABC in the final.

After helping him to bring a shiny new belt back to the Saints’ gym in Kentish Town, the club’s head coach, CJ Hussein, said: “Christian put in two fantastic performances against two very tough opponents. Both the lads he fought were unbeaten before they faced him, but he outboxed both of them to take his unbeaten record to nine fights.”
