A SQUAD of players from The Heath and Regent’s Park Football Club gained “tremendous experience” when they travelled to Gothenburg in Sweden to take part in one of the world’s largest youth competitions.
The Gothia World Cup attracted over 1,600 teams from 78 different countries.
Coach John McCulloch said the boys returned home with memories that will last a lifetime.
“This was an absolutely fantastic trip for the boys, and one that will live with them forever,” he said.
“Our Under-16s did very well winning their group undefeated, before losing to a strong Mexican team in the final 32 of the ‘A’ Cup knock-out stages.
“The Under-14s also played well against some very challenging teams before losing in the ‘B’ Cup knock-out stages.”
