Working all hours?
Thursday, 29th October 2020
• HILL, the contractor, intends to apply to extend working hours on the Agar Grove estate Community Investment Programme project into the evening hours, from six to nine, Monday to Saturday, and to introduce Sunday working from 8am to 1pm.
In their letter to residents Hill say that the extended hours will make up for some of the time lost and help to implement social distancing measures.
Residents have already faced exposure to daily noise for up to two years. They are increasingly working from home and also studying.
At times the construction noise is so loud it interferes with normal conversation. They believe the noise is affecting their health – physical as well as mental. Hill has not given a proposed start or finish date to the extended hours nor have they consulted residents.
I have received numerous letters objecting to Hill’s proposal. Given the severe impacts that the increased working entails, I urge Hill to reconsider their misjudged and unhealthy proposal.
