THE Gunners fired a warning to the rest of the Women’s Super League on Sunday with a dominant 4-2 win over title rivals Birmingham at Meadow Park.
Two goals in the space of five minutes mid-way through the first half put Arsenal firmly in the driving seat as Gemma Davison headed home the opener before Kim Little continued her fine run of goals with the second.
Steph Houghton made it three early in the second half following a goalkeeping error from former Gunner Rebecca Spencer, while substitute Jennifer Beattie notched a fourth after Rachel Williams had given Birmingham a glimmer of hope.
Jodie Taylor struck late for the Blues but it did little to affect a fine afternoon in Hertfordshire.
Manager Laura Harvey said after the game: “The win was the most important thing and to score four goals was obviously great but we are disappointed to have conceded two. But I thought over the 90 minutes we definitely deserved to get three points. The fact that we dominated was pleasing and the performance was one we could be proud of.
“We have a break this weekend and then it’s a game against Chelsea on July 5.
“A few of the girls need a bit of a breather after their international commitments but then it will be back into training.”
