Table-toppers Hampstead made it six straight wins on Sunday when they beat Carshalton Athletic 2-1 in Division One of the London and South-East Regional League.

John Baker’s side took the lead following a 19-pass move that resulted in Anjana Gadgil crossing for Becky Barnes to head home from close range.

Carshalton equalised just minutes into the second-half, but the hosts took all three points courtesy of Kate Freeman’s stunning free-kick.

The Geordie maestro drove the ball into the top corner from all of
30 yards to send Hampstead a point clear at the top of the table.

• Camden Town came from behind to beat title rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in Division One North of the Greater London Women’s League.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Town levelled the scores when neat passing between right-back Kath Wickens and Carol Brown ended with Jaclyn Thayer curling her shot beyond the keeper.

With Maggie Murphy pulling the strings in midfield, Town pushed on and grabbed a late winner when Thayer capped a memorable afternoon with her second of the game.

• Hampstead put in a commanding second-half show to net a 3-0 victory over Hitchin Belles in the Hertfordshire Friendly League.

After a goalless first-half, the under-12s side took the lead when inspirational substitute Star Charles pulled the ball back for Melanie Hall, who drilled her shot past the keeper.

Star then jinked past three players before unleashing a tremendous shot that hit the crossbar and fell kindly for Marni Selby to tap home.

Having played a part in both of Hampstead’s goals, Star then got on the score sheet herself to cap a magnificent cameo appearance.
