Players from Hampstead Women FC will be hoping that come Sunday afternoon they’ll be celebrating a place in the first round proper of the FA Cup

JOHN Baker’s side (above) will be looking to continue their rich vein of form in front of goal when they take on Cambridge United in the third qualifying round at the Hampstead Heath Extension.

The team will certainly go into the game in confident mood after beating Brentford 4-2 on Sunday in Division One of the London and South East Regional League.

It took Hampstead less than 60 seconds to find the back of the net when Val Toro rolled the ball across the area to an unmarked Becky Barnes, who duly slotted her shot past the keeper.

Brentford battled back to take a 2-1 lead against the run of play, but Hampstead weren’t to be denied as the unstoppable Barnes went on to hit a hat-trick and take her phenomenal record to 33 goals in 33 appearances for the club.

And the game was made safe in the 80th minute when a hapless Brentford defender flicked the ball past her own keeper.
