A GALLANT team of the walking wounded shrugged off their injuries on Sunday to help Hampstead Ladies book their place in the quarter-finals of the coveted John Greenacre Mem-orial Trophy, writes Steve Barnett.
Despite fielding a weakened side, Hampstead were too strong for lower league opponents Watford as they netted a 3-0 victory.
The deadlock was broken shortly after the hour mark when Jose Leberger’s strike smashed off the upright, falling kindly for Char Blackmore to tap home.
Having edged in front, it took Hampstead just two minutes to double their lead.
Girl-of-the-game Becky Barnes latched onto a clever through-ball from Sam Caplin and coolly beat the keeper.
The Mancunian striker then wrapped up the win with her second of the game, this time adding the finishing touches to a defence-splitting pass from Blackmore.
