London & South-East Regional League
Division One
Hampstead took over at the top of the table after a pulsating 2-1 victory against title rivals KIKK United on Sunday.
KIKK took the lead from the penalty spot early in the second-half and would have increased their advantage but for the heroics of attacking midfielder Emma Wragg, who was deputising in goal for regular stopper Laura Mifsud.
Despite her 5ft 1in frame being dwarfed by the goalposts, Emma made a series of superhuman saves to keep her team in the game.
Hampstead levelled the scores when defender Deeple Patel curled a stunning effort into the bottom corner.
The comeback was completed on 76 minutes when Char Blackmore dinked the ball over the defenders, allowing goal-a-game striker Becky Barnes to smash home the winner from the edge of the area.
London FA Junior County Cup
STRIKER Mary Guest hit a hat-trick as Camden Town progressed in the cup with a resounding 8-1 victory over London Phoenix.
Winger Lisa Spirakes opened the scoring when she curled her strike out of the reach of the Phoenix keeper.
Guest doubled the lead with an emphatic finish after dribbling past several defenders.
Phoenix pulled a goal back, but goals from Guest and debutante Kit Needham put Camden firmly in control at half time. Guest completed her timely treble early in the second-half, before turning provider to set up Needham’s second of the game.
Kate Howarth capitalised on a mistake from the goalkeeper to add her name to the score-sheet, while defender Maggie Murphy completed the rout with her first goal for Camden.
Capital Girls League
TEAMS representing Hampstead FC and Islington Borough Ladies FC were in action in the Capital Girls League England themed festival on Saturday at Chase Lodge Playing Fields in Barnet.
England and Arsenal Ladies captain Faye White and Arsenal team-mates Kim Little and Jordan Nobbs led a mass warm-up for over 200 girls before the games got under way. Islington’s under-10s and under-12s teams enjoyed the chance to gain experience in competitive games.
Eliza Hicks, Kelsey Ward, Ellie-Mae Bowen, Miah Semper and Charlotte Ward were all among the goals as Islington showed off their skills in the under-10s age group.
Meanwhile Zamire and Zambire Rahman and Cassie Shanahan were all on target for Islington in the under-12s competition.
Under-14s Middlesex Cup
Hampstead stormed into the next round with a fine 4-1 win against Ruislip Rangers.
Ayesha Marchant opened the scoring after converting an inch-perfect cross from Teni Charles.
Ayesha was soon celebrating her second, before Naomi Croft looked to have put the result beyond doubt with another neat finish.
But Rangers pulled a goal back, and would have been right back in the game had Hampstead goalkeeper Tamsin Wickens not been at her best to save a penalty. Ayesha completed her hat-trick to make it safe.
