HAVING dominated the domestic scene, a top youth football team have now set their sights on tackling the cream of Europe.
Isledon Wolves won 13 of their 14 matches at Market Road on the way to being crowned Under-14s champions in the Camden & Islington Youth League.
Hungry for even more success, Wolves are now fundraising to help cover the costs of competing in the prestigious end-of-season Vogido Football Festival, which takes place in the Netherlands in June.
The only English team in their age group, Wolves have been paired in the group stages alongside youth teams representing German giants Borussia Mönchengladbach and renowned Swiss Super League side FC Basel.
Should they make the knockout stages, the north Londoners could face the likes of last season’s Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen or Dutch high-flyers AZ Alkmaar.
“I can’t quite believe this is happening because I’ve never played football outside England,” said Under-14s team captain Tommy Smith. “To say I’m looking forward to the experience is an understatement. I just hope we can do the club proud, although it’s pretty terrifying because the other teams are so famous.”
Wolves have so far raised £805 of their £3,000 target. To donate to the club, visit www.GoFundMe.com and search for Isledon Wolves.
