DELE Alli's "dream come true" was short-lived yesterday (Saturday) as Spurs' winless start to Premier League season continued at Leicester City.
The scoring sub came off the bench just after the hour mark to break the deadlock, converting Nacer Chadli's cross from close range.
With just nine minutes left on the clock it looked like Tottenham had a win in the bag at last. But Riyad Mahrez scored his fourth goal in three games just 60 seconds later to earn the Foxes a 1-1 draw.
Alli described how his emotions went from "one extreme to the other" in the space of a minute at the King Power Stadium.
"It was a dream come true, I wanted to score that first goal and I was so happy to do it. But when they scored straight after, it completely killed it," he said.
Dele Alli thinks he has won three points for Spurs
Back to reality: Leicester equalise straight away
"I’d definitely say we were the stronger team but you can’t take anything away from Leicester, they’ve started the season so well and it’s a tough place to come and win, but we should have taken the three points."
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino said he was "angry" with his team after seeing them throw away a lead for the second game in a row.
"It was 50/50, a very difficult game for both teams. Second half we played much better," he said.
"I am disappointed with the draw. In our last game against Stoke we lost a lead and we did it again today. We deserved more again but it is a shame.
"I am angry and disappointed, not frustrated. The mistake we made today is difficult to explain."
Pochettino added that his need for another striker to help Harry Kane was "obvious", with Tottenham again failing to take advantage of the chances that came their way. A deal to sign Saido Berahino looks set to be complete early next week after the England striker was left out of the West Brom squad for their game against Chelsea on Sunday.
