Sainsbury’s in Camden Town

• NOW the largest supermarket in Camden Town has installed more self-check-outs, replacing all but three or four positions for staffed check-outs (none of the latter has been staffed, so far, during my shopping visits).

Those staff on duty to help bemused and confused shoppers are often shouting. The area is like a bazaar and further makes shopping in this once great supermarket a not-very-enjoyable experience.

Not once have I seen a senior manager on duty in the area, ready to take the flak away from the distressed and harassed junior staff; or managers asking customers what they think. Those Sainsbury’s bosses at Holborn Circus seem not to care for customers any more.

What next? How long will it be before we have to open the box containing the baked bean cans ourselves? Or even stack the shelves ourselves?

Headquartered at Holborn Circus, this supermarket has become a circus.

Some of the staff are really nice people. Some are very helpful and willing. But they are clearly stressed, doing their best, while working for a headquarters management team that they do not deserve.
