• MANY thanks for publishing Martin Plaut’s detailed explanation of the reselection process for prospective councillors, (Labour selection was fair, December 30).

I see that reports from the whips were taken into consideration. Given that the chief whip, ex-councillor Lazzaro Pietragnoli is a self-confessed liar and hypocrite I assume that the process will have to be repeated so that Mr Pietragnoli’s evidence can be ignored in any judgment of prospective councillors.
