Holmes Road

‘Why has Camden Council decided one half of Holmes Road is different from the other half

• I LIVE close to the Holmes Road area of Kentish Town. For the past six months one half of Holmes Road has become a “healthy school street”.

This area of Holmes Road passes St Patrick’s School and motorists driving along this half of Holmes Road between 8am and 10am and 2pm and 4pm face a fine of £65.

Residents are told this makes our neighbourhood safer and healthier. We are also told by Camden that this allows parents and children to cycle and scoot to school safely. Raglan Street has also been closed to through-traffic because there is an entrance to St Patrick’s School in Raglan Street.

However anyone living in the area realises that there is another school at the Willes Road end of Holmes Road which Camden have decided will not be part of their healthy school street.

This school, Collège Français Bilingue de Londres, has three entrances, Holmes Road, Cathcart Street, and Willes Road, and is by sheer coincidence opposite Camden’s depot which has council vehicles coming in and out from 8am every day; also Camden vehicles park outside the front entrance and less than 50 metres away from the school.

So perhaps Cllr Adam Harrison can tell the local residents, and all those motorists who have so far been fined, why Camden Council have decided one half of Holmes Road is different from the other half. Surely it couldn’t be anything to do with your depot being in one half.
