• MANY, many, times the music audiences of the UK were ahead of their times regarding the acceptance and supporting of the music in the 1960s and onwards.

This broad and deep historical relationship with the many artists that helped bring about change in critical times needs to be celebrated and enjoyed by future generations.

One way of doing this is to capitalise on the suggestions Jill Furmanovsky is making concerning the use of the old police station in Rosslyn Hill Camden, (Rock around the dock at ex-cop shop, January 30).

Driving towards the Abbey Road pedestrian crossing, made famous by the Beatles, it was amazing to see the queues of people lining up to get a shot of this historic landmark. Camden Council has a real chance here to create a centre that would be unique.

It would not only celebrate a rich heritage of performing art culture that occurred over the years in the UK but it could also bring this culture alive again by involving visitors in a rich and diverse range of participative activities that would encourage and grow creativity.

Not to mention the revenue that this would undoubtedly generate. And Camden has this kind of vibe anyway so this could be relatively effortless.

Ms Furmanovsky’s idea is one born of her spirit to share and help others develop their own involvement in something that they love and are starved of today, namely, creativity.

Her tireless endeavour to allow this part of our history to have a permanent home which not only displays the history in various forms but also allows people to partake in this culture in some way, is amazing and her sense of community spirit is second to none.

So if anybody out there is actually listening – why not?
