Why is urination such a problem in the 21st century?

A pit of mess close to the people’s homes
• I HAVE great sympathy for those living around Mornington Crescent who find their gardens turned into public conveniences, (Neighbours say night club revellers turn front gardens into their toilets, November 9).
It is extraordinary that in the 21st century in a rich and technologically advanced country like the UK we have not only failed to solve social problems such as this, but we have actually regressed.
Local authorities nationwide have been squeezed of cash so they are actually closing off public toilets from Victorian times.
But surely it must be possible in this hi-tech age to design a cheap disposable device into which not just revellers but those of us medically challenged – men and women – can urinate discreetly.
These could be handed out free at chucking out time in pubs and clubs and given liberally to those with medical needs. But as with so much new technology it is deployed to frivolous ends.
