Why I back the Labour candidate for November 30
Thursday, 16th November 2023
• RETIRED teacher and Labour’s candidate for the upcoming Highgate by-election, Tricia Leman, is trusted and experienced.
She has lived in Highgate for 35 years, where she raised her family.
In her time in education she spent years ensuring our children and young people get the best start in life.
As a long-standing volunteer with the Highgate Society, she has stood up for our community and organised coffee mornings for local elderly people.
Even before standing for election, she lobbied councillors in Camden to recognise ecocide in international law.
Now, as a candidate, she is standing for investment in our green spaces and more trees to be planted on our streets.
I know that what matters to residents matters to Tricia.
She also understands the challenges the area faces, such as the need for more affordable housing in Highgate. Only Labour can be trusted to secure the housing local families need.
In contrast, the Green Party has consistently opposed new council house building and the Tories and Liberal Democrats sold off council homes at auction when they ran the council.
Tricia will fight for funding to keep housing in good repair, as well as for neighbourhood police and CCTV to keep residents on our streets and estates safe.
Highgate is such a beautiful place with amazing green spaces from Waterlow Park to Hampstead Heath. Protecting our environment is what Tricia has been doing for years.
Whether you are voting in person on Thursday November 30, or by post, I urge you to place your “X” by Tricia Leman’s name.
