Why don’t they listen to residents who say a concrete jungle will ruin the area?

• I WROTE to the New Journal some time back with my reservations concerning this proposed Oval Road development and followed up with a letter to Michael Cassidy who is the case officer (Neighbours in battle against courtyard flats, February 16).
Since then I have heard nothing and am concerned we have not been invited to a meeting to discuss this development.
I note Fairview team state, the existing buildings are of no architectural merit and make no contribution to the appearance of the area, so they imagine their buildings will have merit and improve the area?
I think not – the current buildings aren’t visible to the main roads and Fairview’s buildings will be a concrete jungle ruining the area in every manner already quoted by several residents in the area.
Why are the views and wishes of residents never taken into consideration?
It is our right to object to this never-ending stream of new-builds being crammed into every available space at whatever cost to people of the area.
Fairview were confident from the start they would get planning permission, almost as if it is a foregone conclusion. For once Camden, turn down this application and give the residents the answer they all deserve.
