Why does the council side with developers?

Impressions of how the new building in King’s Cross could look
• AS a King’s Cross resident whose Victorian flat is about to be overshadowed by a new 10-storey Brutalist office block, I have great sympathy for the residents near Camden Market who are about to have a ridiculous, tourist-oriented Ferris wheel foisted on their neighbourhood, (Big wheel attraction for Camden Lock is given the green light, June 8).
Our new, unwelcome office block replaces an elegant three-storey 1930s art deco building which easily could have been repurposed for another, sustainable use, although the developer wouldn’t make quite as many millions of pounds.
Maybe your readers could explain why Labour-controlled Camden Council continually sides with property developers against the interests of its residents and the environment?
