Why are we to pay six times as much as residents of Brent?

Friday, 4th December 2020

• IT is clearly the case that Brent’s controlled parking zone policy and its delivery is six times less costly than Camden’s and, on examination, more efficient at both the cost and administrative levels. I would like to know why this is?

I fully understand that Camden has, self-professedly adopted the World Health Organisation quality guidelines for particulate matter in assessing and formulating its parking permit tariffs concerning air quality and air pollution levels.

However, I fail to see any discrepancy between the recorded air quality in Camden overall and that of Brent.

So I would like some clarification as to why the CPZ resident parking permit charges in Brent, quite a poor local authority by comparison with Camden, has been well managed and kept below £100 per year / permit.

The present cost of a tariff 3 category charge in Brent is £92 per year. Yet in Camden, as of April 2021, it will be £640. Over six times more!

Clearly Brent, by comparison, must be a very well-managed authority. Looking at these figures, how else could they manage to serve their permit-payers so efficiently?

So, for me and others, the question remains… why are the Camden charges more than six times as great as in Brent? People in Camden don’t get six times the council service as they get in Brent.

I want Camden to supply me with the model, the calculations, and the reasoning behind this huge charge to car-owning residents as soon as possible, so I might share the reasoning and explanations with others.
