Why are we not ‘precious’ too?

• COUNCILLOR Pat Callaghan champions the New Charlie Ratchford Centre, citing that those in residence there will receive support while living in the community, (Councils like Camden are now stepping in to help care homes, Letters, May 21).

This would be the same community that has suffered for 18 months during construction works.

The same community whose problems have been totally ignored by that councillor, although she is the councillor for a “healthy and caring Camden”.

The same community that has been driven to despair by noise, dirt and intimidation from construction workers.

The same community which already contains vulnerable residents who cannot even open a window for fresh air due to the incessant, six days a week, construction work.

Councillor Callaghan’s phrase, “precious residents” strikes a hollow note with those of us living in Chalk Farm.

Our needs are being trampled by big business, our complaints unresolved by Camden Council. We are left to wonder why we are not “precious” too.
