SHOCKING door bell footage shows a vulnerable woman getting mugged on a doorstep after being helped up the steps with her shopping trolley.

A man, wearing a football tracksuit top, smiled at the woman before suddenly ripping her bag away.

It happened in Kentish Town more than two weeks ago.

With nobody arrested, a neighbour this week urged the police to act and shared the clip.

The woman, who officers said was not injured, screamed out for help from her neighbour.

“You can clearly see the camera on the door, but this clown only had his mind on one thing,” said neighbour Phil Joseph.

“She always asks people to help her with the trolley. I said to her ‘you can’t trust people like that’.

“I rang up the police, they turned up. They rang the bell. They left a crime reference number. The council came and changed the locks.

“I feel like I’ve stepped up and done what I can, but I feel like they aren’t taking it very seriously.”

The man caught on the doorbell camera smiled at his victim before attacking

Mr Joseph – a brown belt at karate – said if he spotted the man in the footage he might “do something” but hoped the police would act.

The Met Police said: “On Saturday, 12 April, at around 10.20pm, a woman was robbed in Kentish Town.

“The victim, aged in her 50s, was approached by a man who stole her purse from her. The victim was not injured.

“Officers remain in contact with the victim, and are making urgent enquiries to locate the suspect.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.

“Anybody who witnessed the robbery – or who has relevant information – should contact the police on 101, quoting crime reference 7997/12APR.”

Council deputy leader Councillor Pat Callaghan, said: “This must have been a deeply distressing incident and our thoughts are with the victim as she recovers from this ordeal. We want to reassure her and the wider community that this kind of crime will not be tolerated.

“Our Community Safety Team will be visiting the tenant to offer support and they will be increasing their presence in the area while we support the police in their work to bring the perpetrator to justice.”
