Wlson letter - Quadrant Grove Kentish Town copy

Quadrant Grove in Kentish Town

• THIS photograph is of Quadrant Grove in Kentish Town, and the white lines indicate the outer limit of residents’ parking spaces are only half a vehicle’s width from the edge of the pavement.

That means that permit-holders are not only allowed to park on the pavement but required to. The quite narrow pavements are completely blocked.

Evidently Camden Council considers that every householder has an absolute right to a parking space outside their house, which overrides the right of people to walk on the pavements. Heaven forbid that some residents with cars should find themselves having to park them somewhere else!

Was the position of the white lines authorised by a council committee, and if so which councillors were aware of it? Or did officers take the decision by themselves? And are there other streets in Camden like this?
