Gunner Girls celebrate their victory at White Hart Lane, with Liverpool who took the boys’ title

A TEAM of Arsenal schoolgirls can sing “we won the league at White Hart Lane” to their hearts’ content after reigning victorious on their rivals’ hallowed turf.

Stoke Newington School’s Paige Bailey-Gayle scored twice to earn the Gunner girls a 2-1 victory over Everton in the final of the Under-13s Premier League Schools Tournament, which was held at Tottenham Hotspur’s White Hart Lane ground on Thursday afternoon. 

“I didn’t think the free-kick went in,” said two-goal hero Bailey-Gayle, 13. “I thought it hit the side netting, but when the players reacted then I knew.  

“It is a great feeling to win it. We won it because of team spirit. We wanted to win it a lot more and we knew what it would mean, especially to win here because most of us are Arsenal fans.”
