When major road changes are planned, ensure residents are notified
Thursday, 1st August 2024
Open letter to Camden Transport Policy Team Manager Sam Margolis and councillors
• IN regards to the Dartmouth Park Area Healthy Neighbourhood programme, when major changes are planned for local roads it really would be a good idea to ensure that all residents are notified.
Residents on Churchill Road Spencer Rise and South York Rise, including the large York Rise Estate, have been kept in the dark.
Placards may have been placed on some lamp-posts on some roads but not those mentioned. The vast majority of residents here knew nothing about it.
It seems that this was most certainly your intention as you refuse to respond to emails or phone calls.
The three roads you intend to create one-way traffic flow on, Churchill Road, Spencer Rise and Chetwynd Road will cause limited access to home for not only those of us that are forced to drive due to disability but also for emergency access vehicles such as firefighters and ambulances, a nightmare.
But what is unacceptable is your refusal to respond or engage.
The two recent in-person events were not available for many who wished to attend, with the venue kept secret until a few hours before the event.
These events were ticketed and the security levels in attendance were excessive.
Is this really what we voted councillors in for?
I was under the impression that councillors’ role was to act on behalf of their constituents.
Clearly not!
