What’s the story with these road works, Camden?

Friday, 3rd May 2019

• APPROXIMATELY two weeks ago the road was dug up at the traffic lights at the junction of Southampton Road and Fleet Road NW3 and barriers placed around the works.

Since then very little work has taken place and the site remains day after day in its dug-up state with never a workman present.

This is an extremely busy junction. One half turns left at the junction to progress up Fleet Road into Hampstead and the other half turns right to progress along Mansfield Road to Gospel Oak.

We are now left with one lane only serving this junction. Long queues form in the rush hour which tail back past St Dominic’s school and church.

May I ask Camden Council:

• Why was it necessary to dig up the road and then leave it without repairs being carried out?

• When are they going to resume work?

This could not have necessitated an urgent repair or surely it would have been mended by now.
