What’s the moral and ethical case for investing in munitions, councillor?
Thursday, 28th November 2024
• THANK you for your report on the pensions committee and the deputations urging immediate divestments, (Camden urged to remove investments from weapons companies ‘fuelling assault on Gaza’, November 21).
While apparently it’s not actually illegal, could Cllr Rishi Madlani (Labour, Bloomsbury) please explain? What is the moral and ethical case for investments in munitions whose wares are currently killing and maiming tens of thousands of civilians all over the Middle East. Also why Camden Council is investing funds in firms operating punitively in illegal settlements?
Council tax payers will be interested, as there seems to be no justifiable reason for the Labour administration’s foot-dragging intransigence.
I look forward to hearing a response via these pages.
