• JOANNA Reeves, the chair of Holborn and St Pancras Conservative Association, is critical of Cllr Danny Beales’s candidacy in the forthcoming Uxbridge and South Ruislip by-election while still a Camden councillor, (An Uxbridge diversion, June 15).

She might like to reflect on how her former leader who, having promised not to stand for parliament while mayor of London, successfully stood for the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency in May 2015 and only ceased to be mayor of London the following May 2016.
