What genius designed Camden's online masterpiece?
Thursday, 17th January 2019
• I TOTALLY concur with Mick Farrant’s January 10 letter about the spectacularly user-unfriendly new Camden Council site, (The council’s new website could be more user-friendly).
Just before Christmas the street light outside my house went on the blink. Wanting to notify the council, I went online and discovered the spiffy new site. I typed “street lighting” (straightforward enough, you might think) into the search engine and was confronted with no less than 238 options.
The first 40 of them included such helpful suggestions as “Our carbon reduction programme”, “Massage and special treatments licence”, “Fireworks safety”, “Book an MOT” and “Citizenship ceremonies”. But about street lighting? Not a word.
I did eventually find my way to the relevant page, but it took some doing. Can’t help wondering: What genius designed this online masterpiece, and how much did it cost our famously cash-strapped council?
