Grenfell Tower in green light

The Grenfell Tower fire claimed 72 lives in 2017

• I AM curious to know, and it would be in Camden Council’s best interest to find out, what the legal profession’s stance would be on construction companies that were previously given permission to go ahead with tower block builds containing only one staircase, but which have not yet been built due to Covid-19, (Heed the warnings after Grenfell, September 8).

If such a construction company were now to go ahead with only one staircase, so ignoring the post Grenfell fatal fire disaster findings:

— a) the Royal Institute of British Architects’ building requirements for two staircases;

— b) recent government circulars and advice via the Building Regulations Advisory Committee; and

— c) the London Plan (3.11.2), and if there were to be a fire later, could this disregard for fire safety be seen as blatantly irresponsible?

Or possibly corporate manslaughter?

Or simply be ignored because of previous permission?

We need to know.
