What are people in flats supposed to do with their waste?
Thursday, 27th January 2022
• I HAVE received an odd leaflet about rubbish on streets from my local councillor Nancy Jirira.
She complains about the amount of rubbish put on pavements but does not seem to recognise that Veolia, the contractor, does collect it and more frequently now that Camden Council is increasing the number of collections on main roads in Fortune Green and West Hampstead.
She also seems to take aim at the many residents who live in flats and do not have a bin to put their rubbish in.
The leaflet implies that placing household waste on the pavement to be collected is somehow wrong and should be stopped.
What are these residents and businesses supposed to do? Does she want huge numbers of bins left on the pavements of our shopping centres?
It would be better if the councillor applied herself to other matters of concern such as anti-social behaviour in this area. I am aware that other Camden councillors are taking the lead on this problem.
