THERE are “exciting times ahead” for West End FC after head coach Peter Chapman announced the club’s first ever international fixture this week.

A squad of nine players from their Under-10s age group have been invited to join counterparts AFC at the Easter Open International Tournament, which is being held in the Netherlands at the start of April.

The boys will certainly prove a match for anyone – having lost just six games in their last two seasons in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League and the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League combined.

“The boys that are going certainly deserve to be a part of the first ever team to represent West End FC on the international stage,” said Peter. “What they’ve achieved over the past two seasons has been outstanding.

“I want to say a big thank you to AFC for inviting us to join them at the event.

“I’m chuffed, and everyone is really looking forward to what promises to be an exciting time for the club.”

West End’s Under-10s prepared for their travels the only way they know how – by beating Fusion in the first round of the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League Challenge Cup.

Zain Duberry scored twice, while Nico Berczeller and Amani Richards were also both on target in the topsy-turvy 4-2 victory.

The club’s Under-9s side also showed tremendous battling spirit in their game against TT Sapo Verde.

It looked like West End were going to come from 4-1 down to earn something from the game thanks to a brace from Sunny O’Leary and goals from Max Donlon and Kirikou Kavuma.

But in the end their efforts fell just short as they ended up on the wrong side of a thrilling 5-4 scoreline.
