• WE’RE outraged at the acquittal of Martyn Blake, the police marksman who fatally shot Chris Kaba.
Kaba was unarmed, with both hands on the steering wheel.
During the trial, the family attended court every day; they were told to the join the Old Bailey’s long public queue.
For the summing up, the judge ordered those entering the public gallery to show ID, plus proof of address, such as a utility bill. Some people were turned away.
Martyn Blake is returning to work as an armed officer. He had shot Chris Kaba after police identified the car but had no idea who was driving it. How is he to be given a firearm after this?
We need to know about Martyn Blake’s record – how many complaints racism, abuse of power, or illegality? We don’t know.
Now Chris Kaba is being demonised as if being branded a criminal justifies police killings.
The establishment claims the prosecution was wrong.
Chris Kaba’s family said “The verdict leaves us with the deep pain of injustice adding to unbearable sorrow… We won’t be silenced. We will continue fighting for Chris, for justice and change.”
The struggle continues, join United Family and Friends annual march this Saturday October 26, led by family members of those killed by police and state institutions.
