We’re lucky to have these shops

• I WOULD like to express my gratitude to the shop workers at Aldi and Lidl, my favourite shops on Camden High Street.

Since the lockdown I have lost my income as a childcarer in the Japanese community in London and now live entirely on my savings.

Despite having paid for both Class 2 and Class 4 National Insurance contributions for many years, I am not eligible for universal credit or the government furlough scheme; therefore I am very much in need of these affordable shops (with German quality)!

They work very hard to ensure we get what we need, especially the gentlemen who observe “one-out-one-in” policy at the entrance.

Indeed, I think we are so lucky to have all these shops including Poundland on our local high street, unlike Kentish Town Road or Kilburn High Road (as far as I know).

And I have admiration towards our rubbish collectors and seasonal workers who have flown into this country in order to rescue UK’s harvest. I wonder how we are going to survive without these hard-working people mainly from east Europe.

And it is lovely not to hear even “B” word of Brexit these days.
