KELLY Smith believes her Arsenal team-mates are “flying high” after booking a Continental Cup final date against Manchester City.

Smith, 35, inspired the Gunners to victory against Notts County in the semi-final as she brought herself off the bench to create the opening goal for Caroline Weir before scoring the second from the penalty spot to seal a 2-0 victory after extra-time at Meadow Park.

They will now face City at Wycombe Wanderers’ Adams Park Stadium on Thursday, October 16, in a 7.45pm kick-off, and Smith is confident that the side will land more silverware.

“Arsenal Football Club is all about getting to finals and winning trophies, so we’ve put ourselves in a fantastic position in our second cup competition this year,” she said.

“Beating Notts County was a massive confidence boast. The team’s really flying high at the minute.”
