DANNY Welbeck opened his Arsenal account this afternoon (Saturday) as three goals in three minutes saw the Gunners romp to an impressive victory at Aston Villa.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said afterwards that he'd never seen three minutes in a match like that before.

"It was very quick," said the Frenchman. "We took advantage of their disappointment from the first goal to quickly score again.

"I felt even before we scored we were in control, it was just about finding the patience. In the second half the game was already over.

"I must say, I didn't see a player who didn't play well today."

Welbeck, who joined from Manchester United on transfer deadline day in a £16million deal, played his part in the opening goal on 32 minutes when he played in Mesut Ozil, who coolly beat goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Ozil repaid the favour two minutes later by crossing for the England striker to sidefoot in from close range – his first in 16 club outings.

The game was killed off as a contest just 90 seconds later when Villa defender Aly Cissokho turned a Kieran Gibbs shot into his own net.
