We should have a tally on Town Hall’s ‘lost’ funds

The development on land next to Talacre
• THERE has been an ongoing campaign over many years to retrieve £3million+ which Camden should be claiming as “overage” payment from the owners of Prince’s Place, Talacre, Kentish Town.
The council says it can’t do it because the contract was so badly drawn up. Now we find that Camden has settled a £130million claim at a modest £19million for Chalcots cladding work, a shortfall of over £100million. It rather puts the Talacre debacle in the “small change” category.
It must, surely, be time for a review of Camden’s own legal department so that officers apparently failing in their duties and the councillors who are failing to supervise them, are clearly identified.
And perhaps the CNJ should be keeping a tally on “lost” funding and publish the results before the next election.
