• THANK goodness we have the New Journal not afraid to tell it like it is, regarding HS2, (HS2 is showing contempt for the people of our borough, March 7).

Unfortunately we don’t see that sort of honesty coming from the council about this government-sponsored crime, which is seemingly a blatant conspiracy against the people themselves.

And Camden Council frantically searches for ways to counteract the poisonous air we are all breathing yet, at the same time, fails ever to address the biggest environmental and catastrophic threat to the borough, that is HS2.

So why are they continually making massive concessions for, and aiding and abetting HS2, and won’t condemn it outright, or call for its demise, even though it is hurting the very people who the council are supposed to be serving.

And why are we allowing the HS2 bullies to treat us with such contempt? If a foreign country was dropping bombs on us, we wouldn’t hesitate to fight back. So why aren’t we all joining forces and fighting the HS2 bullies?

If children all over the country understand the irreversible environmental damage we are causing to the planet, why can’t this callous government understand it and take action to scrap the HS2 project.

I urge everybody to follow the example of those brave children and march and protest about HS2 as loudly as you possibly can!

The editor-in-chief of The Lancet points out that child health and infant mortality in this country are among the worst in Europe. So it is left up to us to protect our children and the vulnerable, ourselves!

And the council aren’t helping, by causing so much added dangerous pollution through traffic congestion, that is; shutting off streets, thus making it take up to 40 minutes in traffic just to get from St Pancras International to Euston Road, giving preference to every construction company going, over its citizens, and allowing HS2 carte blanche to trample all over us!

And Camden are allowing building construction work to be carried out everywhere, against the people’s wishes, and in schools, while the children are in attendance, with the new wide metal fencing around Parliament Hill, and William Ellis Schools looking very smart, but now enabling all the traffic fumes, along with the pollution from construction, to flow more easily into the school and children’s lungs, whereas the closed fencing previously allowed more protection.

One of the most carbon-intense industries, and the third most toxic pollutant (which also creates toxic dust) is concretes. HS2 are going to be using tonnes of the stuff.

Take action and organise petitions and marches against these bullies, and let this government know, once and for all, that no one wants this useless train that will destroy the environment, hurt us and our children, our health and wellbeing, homes, quality of life, and livelihoods!
