We need our street bins but they are being removed
Thursday, 28th June 2018
• IN response to the June 21 Letters about filthy streets, I write to let others know that it’s Camden’s policy to remove the normal street bins as a way to resolve the fly-tipping problem, (Fly-tipping is ignored and there’s no commitment to improving our quality of life).
I don’t believe this is a way to resolve the problem and only serves to reduce services for residents. Cameras to catch fly-tippers would be better.
The bins on either end of Albert Street between Parkway and Delancey Street have been removed and no replacement is planned. We need bins otherwise people will chuck their rubbish on the streets.
After a lengthy conversation with Veolia (you have to go through them though it’s not their responsibility) I have got nowhere and feel depressed to see the decline of this lovely area.
To add to the problem cafés and restaurants have taken to putting out rubbish and recycling early evening so taking an evening stroll up Parkway is now an obstacle course. Camden Council please up your game.
