We need Labour councillors to put their heads above the parapet

• WHAT is needed is many more Labour councillors in Camden being prepared to put their heads above the parapet and raise openly such issues as the £230million (and counting) costs of Chalcots and the financially dire straits of the Community Investment Programme.

They need to press for transparency – much promised but rarely seen. Most of all they need to listen to residents and act rather than having yet another “consultation”. They need, more importantly, to work to rectify the poor services handed out to our most vulnerable residents by some officers.

This is not easy, as criticism can be perceived as party disloyalty. Critical party members are ignored and their emails not responded to. The present mantra appears to be that if we allow open criticism Momentum will thrive.

Labour councillors and party members are aware that there is a price to pay for being critical but what suffers more is democracy, and our residents, when this does not happen.
