• WE now know who we can vote for in the local elections on May 5, candidate lists are published.

When / if candidates knock on your door, ask them what they have done for local people.

Voting on the basis of national politics will not address many of dire problems, closure of community centres, nurseries, a school, and the need for more homes for local people who cannot afford almost £1million for a three-bedroom flat.

We’ve some excellent councillors who work hard for vulnerable people. Vote for them and not those who do nothing but try to enhance their careers and bank accounts.

Maybe we have some excellent people among the “newbies” but we need to know who and what they are.
