Jeffrey, who has been reunited with his family

• WE have just read the report on Jeffrey the missing cat, (And the cat came back, April 29).

We were really saddened and offended by the comments made by the owner and vet.

We were the people who found Jeffrey. We did not take him in, we found him living in a old disused garage near Queen’s Crescent.

He was extremely skinny, dirty and cold. We felt sorry for this poor cat so yes we fed him on two occasions. As animal lovers we cannot see an animal looking so emaciated.

We then spent 24 hours trawling the internet looking at missing pet websites in an attempt to locate his owners. As we knew he couldn’t be a stray as he was very affectionate.

We hadn’t noticed him until Saturday April 24 when he appeared out of a small hole in the garage door. He was reunited with his family on Sunday April 25 just after 10pm.

The lady who came to get him was delighted to be reunited with her beloved cat and offered us £100 reward, which was donated to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust, buying a large amount of food for cats who aren’t so lucky to find their owners.

The quote was: “Our vet has told us they think he was taken in by someone and fed at least up until the last couple of days when he was out on the street trying to find his way home.”

We told the owner when we found Jeffrey that we had fed him, we even sent her photographs of him eating to prove he was her cat.

We just wanted to clarify the misrepresentation of this article. And comments from the owner.
