We do recognise the value and contribution of volunteers in the borough
Friday, 11th October 2019
• FURTHER to the letter ‘Let’s have more thank-yous for the work of volunteers’ (October 3). I am delighted to hear the positive reaction to the work of the Queen’s Crescent Community Association.
We, of course, recognise the enormous contribution and value of volunteers and the voluntary sector in Camden and are committed to working in partnership with the voluntary sector to support and strengthen this work, including our £2million Strategic Partners fund that supports 26 organisations that undertake fantastic work across the borough, including Queen’s Crescent Community Association.
This sits at the heart of our Camden 2025 vision of everyone in the borough working together to find solutions to a wide range of issues.
We are currently working closely with Volunteer Centre Camden and other voluntary organisations, on a number of innovative projects to support and facilitate volunteering and social action in the borough, including new digital methods for sharing volunteering opportunities, and will continue to explore new ways to support the sector.
Celebrating and making visible the dedication and efforts of Camden’s volunteers is undoubtedly important.
While there are a number of existing events recognising volunteers in a range of capacities, from gardening to social care, we are also in the early stages of planning an awards event next year to celebrate the significant contributions our communities make across Camden.
As a volunteer with a local charity myself, I know what a massive difference people make in our borough by giving back. I wish to thank everyone who gives their time and energy.
