University College Hospital
• I WAS saddened to learn of your seasoned staffer John Gulliver’s admittance to the magnificent flagship University College Hospital, with an apparent mix-up of name over his medication, (View of the NHS from a hospital bed, October 10).
I happened to have been in the UCH at the same time – suffering from an identical breathing complaint – but unfortunately did not cross Gulliver’s path.
We could have shared stories of journalistic experiences and UCH successes or problems, had we bumped into each other.
The hospital staff and their treatment has always had a positive impact on my health. And after-care visits also regular and welcomed.
At home now, and having read Gulliver’s piece again, I think to myself how lucky we all are to have the UCH.
And almost as if to peak the point I scanned the runners and riders for Saturday’s horse-racing fixture at York and settled on a wager for a nag named Gulliver. He won! At 16/1!
