We are fortunate to have a council delivering regeneration projects that meet people’s needs

• WHEN we became Labour councillors nearly four years ago residents of West Kentish Town Estate told us how their homes are damaging their health and making life hard.

More than 80 per cent of their flats are damp, cold, overcrowded and noisy. Drains cause problems, windows don’t fit. The estate attracts anti-social behaviour because of its layout.

We are delighted that Camden agreed to listen to residents about the need for change. In 2018 the council is involving residents in exploring options on how to renew or redevelop their homes and the area.

Residents feel that this process is necessary, but frustratingly slow. However, if all goes to plan, in the next few months, residents will help select the design consultants and be involved in the design of their future homes.

They can look at other successful projects in the borough, at Cherry Court, Maiden Lane and Bourne estates, to see how the council works side-by-side with residents to deliver the homes they need.

We are fortunate we have a council directly delivering regeneration projects that meet the needs of our residents, and is aiming to deliver better as well as additional council homes.
