Wellesley Road care home

Wellesley Road Care Home

• WE were very concerned to learn that an elderly resident went temporarily missing from Wellesley Road Care Home last Tuesday afternoon (Care home woman lost for eight hours, March 15).

Shaw Healthcare, who manage the home on our behalf, responded professionally and promptly, alerting our safeguarding team, the police and the resident’s family members. They located the resident and she was returned home safely that evening.

In response to the incident, our safeguarding team are in discussions with Shaw Healthcare and we are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident, which will include all aspects of security at the home.

Wellesley Road was rated as “good” by the Care Quality Commission in its inspection in January and provides specialised personal care to its residents.

Our priority is to ensure Shaw Healthcare are supported to learn from this incident and take the appropriate actions to ensure residents at Wellesley Road are as safe possible in the future and further enhance the first-rate care they provide.

We support all our care homes through regular visits, training, inspections and work with the Care Quality Commission and our in-house teams to make safeguarding and quality of care absolute priorities. In all cases, our focus is on the residents’ wellbeing.
